Jo Gamel Bio
I perform as the Oracle of Jupiter. Metal of Jupiter is a “power metal-prog rock” band consisting of myself on vocals and bass, Tomas Ericson (Helvetets Port) vocals and rhythm guitar, David Olofson (Helvetets Port) lead guitar, Snowy Shaw (King Diamond, Dream Evil) on drums, and Kyle McNeill (Seven Sisters, Phantom Spell) on Keys. I’m influenced by rock singers like Jenny Darren and Tina Turner, as well as the album Seventh Son of a Seventh Son by Iron Maiden, and Journey to the Center of the Earth by Rick Wakeman.
The band formed in 2022 in Gothenburg, Sweden and has released two singles with two music videos, with a forthcoming album. In February I began to host a video interview series called “Jo Gamel’s Rock Goddesses” in which I interview women who make music in rock, metal, and punk bands.

Hilary: [Music]
What’s up, everybody? Happy Tuesday… it’s Tuesday, right? [laughs] Just taking a few seconds to get settled in here, work out some technical difficulties, and then we’ll be on our way. I’m really excited about this conversation, so just hang in for a second.
[Pauses]
Good to see you guys!
Before we dig into the real conversation, Jo, you’ve fully gotten into the book already, right?
Jo: Oh, I did actually finish the book! It was nice to have a little time.
Hilary: Did you start reading it yet?
Jo: Not yet, I haven’t. And what a cliffhanger to start the conversation, right? [laughs]
Hilary: Exactly! We’ll dig into it in just a second. But, happy Tuesday, everybody, and welcome to the Bellwether Ritual live stream, where we talk about all things music, social media, and more, both in the Lehigh Valley and far beyond. I am very excited about our guest today. And, of course, if you like what you’re seeing, give us a like, a follow, a subscribe — all the love and affection!
My name is Hilary, I’m the bassist and backup vocalist for Bellwether Ritual, and I’m very proud to introduce the amazing Jo Gamel!
A little bit about Jo: She performs as The Oracle of Jupiter, the lead singer for the power metal, prog rock band Metal of Jupiter, a supergroup that we’re going to dive into in just a moment. Influenced by a wealth of rock singers like Jenny Darren, Tina Turner, and many more that we’ll talk about later. The band formed in 2022 in Gothenburg, Sweden, and has released two singles, along with two music videos, and a forthcoming album! Lots to talk about.
She also hosts a fantastic new interview series called Rock Goddesses, where she interviews women who make music in rock, metal, and punk scenes.
So, welcome, Jo! It’s fabulous to have you here.
Jo: Thank you for having me!
Hilary: Absolutely, it’s an honor! I had the privilege of being on your Rock Goddesses podcast, and let me tell you, you are absolutely one of the most interesting women I know. I left the conversation feeling super inspired.
Jo: That means a lot, thank you!
Hilary: Of course! So, let’s start things off with a little Shameless plug moment. Anything you want to share about your current projects or upcoming releases? Let’s hear it!
Jo: Sure! Well, I guess, for the Metal of Jupiter side of things… let me first mention the album released by Helvet – a project that Tomas and David from my band are both in. They just dropped their album Warlords, which is fantastic, so go check that out!
As for me, I’m heading into the studio in Sweden in February with Olaf Wickstrand to start working on the album for Metal of Jupiter, so there’s a lot in the works for that. Super excited!
